Community Gardens

Local government leaders are in a unique position to promote healthy eating and active living in their communities by supporting community gardens. Community gardens are places where neighbors and residents can gather to cultivate plants, vegetables, and fruits and, depending on local laws, keep bees and raise chickens or other livestock and poultry.

Community gardens can improve nutrition, physical activity, community engagement, safety, and economic vitality for a neighborhood and its residents and provide environmental benefits to the community at large.

Community Gardens shall consist of land used for the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, plants, flowers, or herbs by multiple users. The land shall be served by a water supply sufficient to support the cultivation practices used on the site. Such land may include available public land. Community gardens are a permitted use in the following zones: residential, multifamily, mixed-use and open space.

Sustainable Tiny Home Community

INTERESTED IN WORKING TOGETHER TO LIVE IN A SUSTAINABLE TINY HOME COMMUNITY??

Hello Everyone,

I have an idea, and I'm looking for feedback on how to make it possible.

What if I buy a piece of land in the South Florida area, legally make it a mobile home park, and then rent out spaces (and maybe tiny mobile homes in the spaces too, if people want)? It would be specifically for people in the tiny home movement, not a "regular" mobile home park. (I know these criteria’s will have to be better defined at some point...)
I imagine offering utility hook-ups for those who want them, and perhaps we can share solar panels as well.

Ideally there would be a common community house (which will collect rain water) in the middle everyone can share kitchen, and have community meals and gatherings there, share resources such as clothes washer, tools, etc.

Does anyone know what zoning requirements the land I purchase would need to meet? I doubt I can purchase just any old plot of land for sale in South Florida and do this.

Also, what's the interest like? Would anyone wanna join such a tiny-house co-housing community in South Florida, if it existed? How much would you want to pay in rent for a place to legally park and use the common house resources, if you already had a tiny house and just needed a place to put it? How much would you want to pay to rent a tiny house in such a group and "try on" tiny living without the commitment of actually buying or building one yourself yet?

Thanks everyone for reading,

Nasly

Tiny Home Movement!!

TINY HOMES MOVEMENT

Built it yourself!!!

These homes are small but bring lots of benefits to your lifestyle. Benefits include living debt free, low utility bill, low maintenance, live outdoors vs sitting like a couch potato (for some of us). This home brings luxury and all that you need, all in a limited space.

I invite you to look up tiny homes on youtube you will be impressed by the amount of people selling their homes/getting out of their rental home and/or apartments, to building one of these themselves.

Environment Leadership Speech

I was asked to speak at a Environment Leadership Workshop at FIU on Oct 11-12. I am honored to be a part of this incredible opportunity, to be able to share my experiences living in a  sustainable environment. I am humbled to share my story to citizens looking to reduce their carbon foot print and make the world a better place.

I invite you to consider small steps into living more sustainably:

Plant a small garden
Recycle, Reduce, Reuse and Refill
collect rainwater
reduce electricity
compost your waist
